Lizzie Riley

I was recently reminded that my passion for interiors spans way back to my childhood where I’d save weeks’ worth of pocket money to purchase matching quilt covers for the room I shared with my sisters. I’d then spend countless hours making wall art and other decorative elements to complete the scheme.

Fast forward quite a few years and I’m finally realising my lifelong love of interior design and decoration with the launch of 54 North.

I am a qualified Interior Designer and Interior Decorator whose formal qualifications add to my previous furniture and homewares sales experience, and to the decade of residential building and renovating projects I have worked on alongside my husband, most recently including a knock down rebuild of our current home.

I also bring 15 years of project account management, client service, planning and leadership skills - attained via my previous roles in advertising, brand marketing, corporate identity and strategic planning - to the helm of 54 North.

My design philosophy:

  • Strong planning is the key to success in any interior design or decoration project.

  • Aesthetics are important, but not at the expense of function. You need to (and can) tick the boxes for both.

  • An incredible space you are proud of, and proud to share with others, does not have to cost the earth.

  • An organised, attractive space is possible even with small children (I’m the mum of two littlies myself). It’s about making smart selections that consider how you (and they) actually live, as well as ensuring you include ample, clever storage solutions.

I really look forward to collaborating with our clients on each new project we are fortunate to work on - creating beautiful, functional spaces that reflect, and further benefit, their life and style.
